Quote from friend

When I said that life in my city was full of farewells, a friend of mine gave a very nice response..
"No need to say good bye; just "see you later" because life is full of surprises and we don't know when we could meet again"

Enjoy a picture of our happy dinner.

Its really nice to meet you all. See you "later" :)

Tomato sauce

Several weeks ago, I made pizza for a friend who helped me moving in to my new room. Okay, actually it was not real pizza. I put tomato sauce on a slice of bread, gave some grated Parmesan cheese, and toasted it for a while.

It was my first time (making this sauce by myself), so that when I saw that my friend really liked it, I was so happy.

.. ups..
(no picture, because I forgot to take it)

Delicious KFC

On the first day in my apartment, I hadn't install gas to turn on the stove. Therefore, me and my friend decided to cook my chicken meat in Kaikan (my campus dormitory). We made this fried chicken with very limited ingredients (only garlic, garlic powder, and salt), but amazingly it turned out to be super delicious fried chicken.

That day I found out that my friend was really talented.. He was really good, not only in photography, but also in cooking. We named the dish as KFC, Kaikan Fried Chicken :)

Chicken dumpling です!

I had an idea to make siomay ayam (chicken dumpling) after conversation with my cousin. Because I was such a newbie, I ran to my neighbor to ask for her assistance.

I would like to say that this siomay ayam was our joint venture. But actually, I just came to my neighbor with an idea, an egg, a knife, a cutting board, and a block of "bumbu pecel" (Indonesian peanut sauce). The rest (of the ingredients and tools) were from my neighbor!
(Even the chicken meat was from her. Ehehehe, I guess I have a really nice neighbor^^)

We chose chicken instead of fish because we thought it would be simpler (than if we used fish -- we had to separate the fish from its bone).

Anyway..
This is our siomay. Believe me. It taste really really goood.

おつかれさまです, neighbor! :) ありがとう.

Tuna-Mayo Bread

Hola! Hows life?
Me? Fine, thank you :)
So, last weekend, we had a guest from another city. But that time I was exhausted and was not in the mood to make any food. This food was made just about 2 hours before we went to hike Fuji-san.

Actually I wanted to make something sweet (such as pudding), but it seemed that my neighbor started to get bored with my sweet food :(

Milk Pudding with Orange and Kiwi

I rarely cooked this week. Not only because of my schedule (halah :p) but also (mainly) because my friend gave me Rendang Telur.

Hoooh! I love it very much. I ate Rendang Telur EVERY DAY in this week (at least once a day, but sometimes I can eat Rendang Telur up to three times a day :D).

The only food that I cooked these recent weekdays was only pudding. This milk pudding was my second try. It tasted good (for me) because I added whipped cream into the mixture. The result was this pudding tasted so moist (more moist than my first try) and fresh (because of orange and kiwi).

Actually the original recipe use mango as its vla, but i couldn't find mango here (not yet) and i (still) don't have any idea what other fruit can be used to substitute mango. Any idea?

As usual, this recipe is taken from Bara's book ;)

What do you know about life?

A no-meaning picture. Have no title, as usual.
Just want to get rid of these clouds.

Chocolate Bread Schotel

Another weekend project! This is a recipe taken from Bara Pattiradjawane book.
Basically I just put slices of bread, chopped chocolate, parmesan cheese, and a mixture of eggs and whipped cream. The problem is.. "our" toaster oven only has a timer mode so that I can't set its temperature :(

I think the temperature is too hot for the schotel. I also put too many chocolate on my schotel (2 bars of chocolate). It still tastes good for me, but maybe tastes a little bit too sweet for ordinary people.

Lol.

This sweet schotel is a perfect mate for coffee (hello, neighbor!) or a glass of grape juice. You can eat it for breakfast.

Lovely.

Fusilli Schotel

On a sunny Sunday, I decided to make a macaroni schotel using a kitchen stove. It's so sad that I don’t have an oven to bake (neither do my neighbor)..

But then my phone was ringing.. My neighbor called me and asked whether I wanted to go outside for lunch and karaoke.

Hmm.. I dunno..
To be honest, this weekend, I was sooo in a gloomy mood. I just had no intension to go anywhere (even to karaoke)..
I said to her that maybe I would go later after making "macaroni schotel".

She became excited and said that she'd just got a "new" toaster oven from our neighbor. Hoahh.. Lucky me! My neighbor and her "new" toaster oven was really a big help for me. In the end, she had also saved our precious lunch. You can come, bring your chili sauce, and taste our schotel :)

So why I made this post titled "fusilli schotel"? Because instead of macaroni pasta, we used fusilli pasta. Taste the same, but I think fusilli has a better shape..
Halah..

I will add the recipe later after my second try

Mr. Bear and Mr. Pillow

I went to another karaoke with my Japanese friends. I was so happy because they were so nice^^

This is an Utada Hikaru's song. I was surprised that she had this kind of song.. This song is so cuuute :D

Knew this song from Sa, I thought I remembered this song. I tried to sing it but I failed. Lucky me that I had my Japanese friend helped me to finish singing the rest of this song. To be honest, it felt a little bit funny to see a guy singing this kind of cute song :D

I really had a good time that day. Let's see if you really like this song, like me :)

First Love

I bet u've heard Utada Hikaru's First Love. This is quite an old song (more than 10 years ago!). At that time, i didnt really like this song. The word "first love" just didnt (and doesnt :p) mean anything to me.
However.. now, ten years later, while trying to learn some of japanese word, i suddenly like this song.. Perhaps because im a woman, i prefer ken hirai's voice than utada hikaru :9 (How about you? Which one do u like?)
I realize that if you try to learn by your heart, some simple words can mean a lot.

and I agree:

今はまだ悲しい love song新しい歌 うたえるまで
/Now it's still a sad song until I can sing a new song/

wew. what a song..

Free Heater

Japan has the sort-and-recycle procedure to reduce the amount of garbage that ends up in incinerators.

Thats why you can find many clean, useful things on the rubbish disposal station. Sometimes, after eating dinner from outside campus, we went to this garbage/rubbish temporary storage near my dorm. We were sneaking around, tried to found ANYTHING that still can be used..

here's my electric-heater :D
found it just after i had considered buying a heater..

ps: if ur lucky, u can get another useful things like desk-lamp, thick-blanket, nice jacket, tv, and even laptop in this place..

A hollywood version of me

Speaking of hollywood movies, a few weeks ago, a friend of mine greeted me. He said that he'd just watched a movie that reminded him to me.
I straightly guessed, "Zooey Deschanel?"
He was surprised, "How did you know?"
Well, that was quite easy. Actually he's not the first one who said that i look like Zooey Deschanel.

Two dreamers

Elton John John Lennon said, "You may say I'm a dreamer, but I'm not the only one.."

Elton John John Lennon was right. He's not the only one.
But I'm not talking about me.
I'm talking about my closest friend.
